As Deputy Chairman of the Board, he is responsible for marketing, sales and digitalisation at Autoland AG, Germany’s largest independent automotive trading group with a turnover of around one billion euros. He is also a member of various supervisory and advisory boards in German and international companies.

He is a visiting senior fellow at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

Previously, he was German Federal Minister of Finance (2021–2024). Christian Lindner is one of the most prominent advocates of market-based policies, strong capital markets and stability-oriented public finances. He was a member of parliament for almost 25 years and party leader of the Free Democrats for eleven years. During his political career, he has achieved outstanding electoral success on several occasions.

In Germany, Lindner initiated the consolidation of the federal budget after the coronavirus pandemic. In the European Union, Christian Lindner has had a significant influence on the applicable fiscal rules and the roadmap for the capital markets union.

As chair of the G7 finance ministers, he played a key role in determining the crisis response following Russia’s attack on Ukraine.

Christian Lindner studied political science and constitutional law in Bonn, was an entrepreneur before entering politics, and is a reserve officer in the Air Force with the rank of major. He is married and has one daughter.

Lindner is a Knight of the French Legion of Honour and a recipient of the Grand Gold Medal of Honour for Services to the Republic.
